Seven Dolphin Baseball Players Earn All-Conference or All-Region Honors
Alex Guejardo, Shane Jessen and Caden Miller named to All-Region Team. Caden Miller and Cade Baker were named to 1st Team All-Conference. Alex Guejardo, Tanner Marek, Tyler Ryden and Justan Autry named to 2nd Team All-Conference.
Sophomore Right Fielder and Leadoff Hitter Alex Guejardo, who was named to the All-Region and All-Conference 2nd Teams, had a great season for ACC, leading the team in Batting Average (.352), On Base Percentage (.480), Hits (56), Runs (45) and Walks (29). Notable Performance: Went 3-4 at the plate with a Home Run and three RBIs in the 7-5 victory over Angelina on February 5th.
Sophomore First Baseman Caden Miller, who was named to the All-Region and All-Conference 1st Teams, was a big time bat for the Dolphins, leading the team in RBIs (44), Slugging Percentage (.558) and Home Runs (8), and finished second on the team with a .333 Batting Average and a .443 On Base Percentage. Notable Performance: Went 5-5 at the plate, driving in four runs om 7-1 victory over San Jacinto on April 18th.
Freshman Pitcher Shane Jessen, who was named to the All-Region team, had a 3.38 ERA across nine appearances, with an ERA of 0.00 in non-conference play. Notable performance: Two innings of shutout ball, earning the save in 2-1 victory over Temple on February 14th.
Sophomore Outfielder Cade Baker, who was named to the All-Conference 1st Team, displayed an elite contact tool, striking out just nine times in 168 AB's, and made dozens of fantastic plays in Center Field. Baker lead the team in Extra-Base Hits (19), Total Bases (86), and had the third highest Batting Average on the team (.327) and second highest Slugging Percentage (.512). Notable Performance: Went 3-4 at the plate with a walk, a homer and two RBIs in the playoff-clinching win against Blinn on May 2nd.
Sophomore Infielder Tanner Marek, who was named to the All-Conference 2nd Team, lead the team in At-Bats (180), Sacrifices (8), and was second on the team in RBIs (41) and Extra-Base Hits (16). Notable Performance: Went 4-5 at the plate with a walk, five RBIs and two homeruns, with one being a walk-off against San Jacinto on March 13th.
Freshman Pitcher Tyler Ryden, who was named to the All-Conference 2nd Team, lead the team in Innings Pitched (72.2), Wins (6) and Strikeouts (74), while pitching to a 3.96 ERA. Notable Performance: Six Innings of one run ball pitched in the 5-1 victory over Coastal Bend on April 26th.
ACC Baseball will compete in the NJCAA Region 14 Conference Tournament held at Bossier Parish Community College, starting May 8th at 1PM when the Dolphins will take on BPCC. The game can be watched live on the ACC Athletics Youtube Channel
